About Breguet

Breguet was founded by Abraham-Louis Breguet in 1775 at the Quai de l’Horologe on the Ile de la Cite in Paris. Breguet is credited with creating the first Tourbillon function, which stabilizes the effects of gravity has on a timepiece. Since 1976, all Breguet timepieces have been produced at the headquarters located in the Valle de Joux, Switzerland. The brand found patronage in Marie Antoinette and Louis XVI, who bought several timepieces after becoming fascinated with Breguet’s self-winding watch. They were also commissioned by Marie Antoinette to create a timepiece that included a clock, perpetual calendar, repeater, thermometer, chronograph, power reserve and pare-chute. The watch was completed 34 years after she had been executed. Breguet timepieces can be easily recognized by their coin-edge cases, their guilloche dials and their blue pomme hands (Breguet hands).
