Last week when I was in Las Vegas, one of my most complimented outfits was a white linen pantsuit a la Bianca Jagger in the 1970s. While menswear is a trend that circles back often, I’ve been seeing some great examples of the evening tux lately that make me want to put the LBD aside in favor of the Little Black Suit. Take, for instance, Hailee Steinfeld at the MTV Movie Awards last week. I am smitten with her Louis Vuitton tuxedo paired with an emerald green and black mica striped clutch by Edie Parker. So chic, and yet she makes it perfectly age-appropriate by wearing her hair loose and donning a simple white t-shirt.
Get Hailee’s look with this DEVI KROELL Swarovski Wooden Clutch or this GUCCI Parrot Green Snakeskin Clutch. The pop of bright color adds jus the right touch to a mature outfit.
I also liked the stark simplicity of Kirsten Dunst in Patrick Ervell at the CFDA Awards in New York City. While it’s very buttoned up, the contrasting blue lapel and oversized hoop earrings give it a polished edge. Make this look your own with these DAVID ALAN 18K Yellow & Diamond Gold Hoop Earrings or go for all-out glam with these 18k White gold & Diamond Hoop Earrings.

Although I was technically in Vegas for Jewelry Market Week, I couldn’t pass up stopping by the Wynn hotel’s Chanel shop. In my experience, the Vegas locations seem to always get some great, limited-edition, unusual items that you just can’t find anywhere else. Case-in-point? The gorgeous matte blue stingray reissue with inlaid crystals you see above.
According to my helpful sales associate, this was one of two produced for the United States. And it was $16,000. So although I couldn’t buy it, I could definitely take a picture of it. I also took a picture of this beauty:
A fantastic alligator flap with sequins sewn into the scales. Yes, sequined alligator. As if the exotic skin wasn’t enough and you might need some extra flash.
Although most of us can’t afford these rare, brand new bags, there’s still hope! We have a few fantastic limited edition Chanel bags that will be in style forever. Here are my favorites:

Alright, I’m just going to say it: I found the Grammys kind of fun last night. Even though the winners were completely predicted by the performance right before, and even though Rihanna looks good but can’t really sing live, there were still some surprises and some great clothes. Unlike the super safe movie awards gowns, the Grammys give celebs a chance to get sassy and show their personalities. Case in point: Jennifer Hudson in Versace, Neil Lane Jewels and Christian Louboutin shoes. By far my favorite of the night, she had just the right amount of shimmer, sex appeal and class to feel rock and roll without going overboard.
Jennifer Lopez went for ultra silver shimmer in her Pucci mini, Cartier jewels, Swarovski clutch and Louboutins, but it works. She followed the rule of short skirt, long sleeves, and went minimal on the hair and makeup. The Grammys are really all about the sequin, so JLo knew that to make a statement, she’d have to rock the look from head to toe.
My final favorite was Lea Michele, also opting for Pucci. But her dress couldn’t be more different than JLo’s – instead of sparkle, she chose a plunging neckline with lace inserts and a sky-high slit. The hot pink lips and Lorraine Schwartz bracelet were the perfect additions to a slinky, sultry ensemble.
If you want to get your own red carpet rock and roll look, a silver clutch will never do you wrong. Here are some of our favorites:

I think Mandy Moore looks adorable here promoting her new Disney movie Tangled. Her sweet Paule Ka LBD only needs two strong accessories–fabulous red satin heels and a multi-strand pearl and diamond necklace (that I’m assuming is vintage). Some people might look at this necklace and think ‘old’, but Mandy did it just right. Her not-too-perfect topknot is just the right hair for her age, and she wisely stays minimal on the makeup and other jewelry.
