For a while, chandelier earrings were all the rage. And then we were seeing long, straight drops. But the hoop seems to be back and bigger than ever — literally. Take a cue from Jennifer Hudson, above, and go big even during day. Jennifer chose a diamond-studded version for her appearance on Live with Regis and Kelly and I think they add the perfect amount of sparkle to an ensemble with girly touches like pintucks and ruffles.
Oversized might be an understatement for someone like Rihanna, who is never afraid to wear bold accessories. She often chooses major hoops and accentuates them by wearing her hair pulled to one side.
Finally, Olivia Munn wears them with a casual, NYC-street savvy outfit. Her platforms, jeans and t-shirt feel finished with the addition of large silver hoops.
Here’s a great selection of hoops to choose from — whether you want gemstone studded or warm yellow gold. We even have a perfect pair of diamond hoops (at 50% off) that might not have you singing like Jennifer Hudson, but you will definitely sparkle just as bright.

I find it pretty amazing how long leopard has been sticking around. This jungle cat pattern is definitely bold and brash, but lots of ladies are embracing it by wearing it strategically: Just one piece is more than enough. Kate Walsh did it just right as an accent to denim and black, and both Rihanna‘s headband and Rachel Zoe‘s booties were worn in the same vein. All three ladies kept the rest of their ensembles simple and low-key, and chose leopard as a ‘pop’ that keeps things interesting.
Are you still loving leopard? Or are you ready to see a different pattern prevail? Regardless, check out our selection of leopard accessories and you may be inspired.
Although I already talked about my favorite Oscar fashions, I’d be remiss if I didn’t mention Anne Hathaway in a custom Lanvin tuxedo and Brian Atwood heels. I adored this outfit — it fit her like a dream, had perfect proportions, and still left her looking totally feminine and beautiful. The idea of women wearing menswear is nothing new (see Marlena Dietrich, Lauren Hutton and YSL’s Le Smoking jacket), and in fact, it’s a trend that’s been growing stronger in recent years.
If you want to try this look for a black tie affair, remember to add some girly touches (diamonds!) and don’t take it too far over the top. Case in point: Rihanna, below, wearing Dolce & Gabbana to the Met Costume Institute Gala in 2009. The sleeves are just too much, and the addition of black driving gloves and severe hair doesn’t help.
You can even adapt the tux look for a less formal event, like artist Olympia Scarry did this week in New York. Her leather leggins, white button-down blouse and tux jacket are dressed up with red lips and not much else.
A pair of gorgeous diamond-studded drop earrings will offset this structured look perfectly. A few of my absolute favorites are Jewel of Ocean’s triple diamond drop earrings, this fantastic pair of black rhodium, silver and diamond geometric earrings, or these Kenneth Jay Lane vintage Marie Antoinette earrings.
Here’s an unusually casual Rihanna in Italy this week. Although her red hair is pretty hard to ignore, I think it’s her cute ostrich Prada bag that’s the standout. Ostrich is a super durable material that has an inherently chic pattern worked in naturally, and some of my favorite bags right now–in all colors and sizes–are made from it. Whether you’re looking for a similar Prada bag (try this Runway Bauletto Cervo Patch Naturale Satchel on for size) or something in ostrich (see below), it’s good to know that a signature tote can really make the outfit.
Here’s my ostrich faves of the moment:
HERMÈS Saffron Ostrich 35cm Birkin Bag with Gold Hardware. The gold standard of ostrich bags in a warm, neutral color.
OSCAR DE LA RENTA Grey Ostrich Clutch. It’s totally minimal and very chic.
BODHI Genuine Ostrich 13″ Laptop Sleeve. It’s a total splurge, but the acid orange makes carrying your computer around super fun.

For some, the Fourth of July means red, white and blue. But I’m more distracted by the stars and stripes part of the equation–like Rihanna in this great black and white striped blouse. Stripes have been everywhere for summer, especially in simple t-shirts and on great printed dresses.
Want to integrate this look into your accessories? I am coveting this mini Chanel flap in fabulous black and white. It would be so cute for a night out–it only fits your ID, credit card phone and lipstick, but it leaves you totally free to dance the night away.

Normally, it’s hard to try to copy a style as out-there as Rihanna‘s. From the funky hairstyles to the crazy dress cutouts, she doesn’t usually do downplayed. But then she goes and tones it down while sitting courtside at the Knicks game on Monday night in NYC.
There is nothing I like better than a simple white t-shirt for showing off a great selection of jewelry. Rihanna mixes and matches several yellow gold necklaces (including what looks like two rosaries and a locket among others) with a simple pair of diamond studs.
Don’t be afraid to layer necklaces to make a bold statement. Rihanna makes a smart move by only choosing yellow gold so the look isn’t too busy. Here’s a few options to recreate her style:
KIESELSTEIN-CORD 18k Yellow Gold & Diamond Chain Necklace
M+J SAVITT 18k Yellow Gold Plated Nugget 2-Row Necklace
EWA SOLARSKA 18k Yellow Gold Diamond Pillow Drop Necklace
CARTIER Platinum 1.51 ctw Round Diamond Stud Earrings
