Louboutin at the Louvre?

While some of us may think of designer footwear as high art, Christian Louboutin took the notion to a whole other level with his Fall 2011 lookbook. Shot by renowned photographer Peter Lippman, the images reinvent classic paintings including Whistler’s Mother by James McNeill Whistler and Magdalene and the Flame by Georges de la Tour with the addition of signature red soles and handbags.

I think Louboutin’s instincts are right on: Why not celebrate a gorgeous luxury stiletto as a form of fashion art? We can only hope that our shoes and bags remain as timeless as the paintings!
