The fashion world gave a collective gasp as Balenciaga announced that Nicolas Ghesquière will leave at the end of the month.
That’s after 15 years at the helm of the brand. Nicolas is credited with reviving Balenciaga and making it possibly the most fashion-forward label around. That includes recently making Kristen Stewart the face of the brand, just check out her turn in a bra top from over the weekend.
When it comes to handbags, Balenciaga under Nicolas has created an easily recognizable look that melds rock-and-roll and uber-chic by using leathers with interesting treatments, plenty of hardware and edgy inspiration such as the Motorcycle bag (above). Its stands out for silver studs, small tassels and buckles and is available in just about every color you can imagine. The same goes for the City bag (below) — a stunning carryall that is roomy enough to be your everyday tote.
Nicolas, we can’t wait to see what you do next!
