When it’s time to put your money where your mouth is, you want to go to the brand that never goes out of fashion. Who wouldn’t want a little more Chanel on their arm? In honor of the legendary French fashion designer, a roundup of our five favorite Coco Chanel quotes that are full of stylish wisdom and wit, while spotlighting some of the chicest Chanel jewelry.
Luxury Must be Comfortable, Otherwise it is Not Luxury
A Chanel charm bracelet is a fun way to make a statement. When you mix some yellow gold with a smattering of rhinestones, the overall look is modern and sleek, which goes with absolutely everything.
In Order to be Irreplaceable, You Must Always Be Different
Coupled with the fact that we’re obsessed with the Chanel C’s, it’s common knowledge that you can’t go wrong with a classic Chanel logo with enough rhinestones to go with your rock and roll mini or your vintage denim and heels.
I Don’t Do Fashion, I am Fashion
No matter what your personal earring style is: studs, drops, or dangling – these Chanel logo clip on earrings are major eye candy. We would wear these with a cropped tuxedo jacket, a flirty cocktail dress or a power suit.
A Girl Should be Two Things: Classy and Fabulous
How incredible is this Chanel choker? It is a little bit tough girl, a little bit chic, and versatile enough to enhance a maxi dress, biker jacket or an evening gown to highlight its unique hardware.
Fashion Fades, only Style Remains the Same
This vintage Chanel necklace can seriously step up your style, whether you’re wearing it with a structured jacket or with your Sunday-Brunch outfit. It’s a sartorial marriage between whimsical and chic.
Although I was technically in Vegas for Jewelry Market Week, I couldn’t pass up stopping by the Wynn hotel’s Chanel shop. In my experience, the Vegas locations seem to always get some great, limited-edition, unusual items that you just can’t find anywhere else. Case-in-point? The gorgeous matte blue stingray reissue with inlaid crystals you see above.
According to my helpful sales associate, this was one of two produced for the United States. And it was $16,000. So although I couldn’t buy it, I could definitely take a picture of it. I also took a picture of this beauty:
A fantastic alligator flap with sequins sewn into the scales. Yes, sequined alligator. As if the exotic skin wasn’t enough and you might need some extra flash.
Although most of us can’t afford these rare, brand new bags, there’s still hope! We have a few fantastic limited edition Chanel bags that will be in style forever. Here are my favorites:
Chanel Rare Deep Burgundy Chanel Exotic Alligator Skin Evening Flap Bag
Chanel Limited Edition Chanel XXL Patent Reissue Flap Bag
Chanel Fabulous Limited Edition Swarovski Lucky Charms Flap Bag
While I wasn’t in love with everything in Karl Lagerfeld’s Chanel 2012 Resort show, I did find something that made me personally happy: the jewels! Karl brought on the bling, all from Chanel’s haute jewelry collection, and accessorized everything from turbans to maillots. While the ensemble above may seem impractical to some, it just screamed summer on the Riviera to me (in a great way).
I love the peek of a diamond statement necklace under an outfit totally reminiscent of tennis whites — you can do something similar with a vintage rhinestone necklace for a fraction of the price.
Even the guys didn’t escape the gemstone treatment. OK, so I’m not a proponent of men’s diamond-encrusted turbans, but I think that a certain type of dapper gentleman can easily pull off a pin on the lapel of a sports coat.
Karl himself accessorized with an emerald and diamond pin as tie clip. Really, it’s a pretty minimal look for the designer, who can easily take his own wardrobe way over the top. Be sure to check out our entire selection of vintage jewelry to get the look!

There’s not too much explanation needed here — we’re looking at a vintage CHANEL Black Jumbo Flap Bag for $2,199. If you bought this bag at Chanel today, you’d pay over $4,000, and honestly, it probably wouldn’t be as cool as this vintage version. This bag will absolutely never go out of style, so when you think of $2,199 over the next 20 years, this bag pays for itself easily!
Don’t believe the hype? Check out some pics below to see the many who worship at the altar of the Chanel Flap bag, or shop our entire collection of pre-owned Chanel:
If you haven’t seen True Grit, I totally recommend it – even if it is just for the movie’s 14-year-old star Hailee Steinfeld. While I really enjoyed the film as a whole, I fell in love with Hailee and her tough-as-nails portrayal of a young girl trying to avenge her father’s death. An even bigger surprise has been this teen’s performance on the red carpet. She has been one of my favorites at the Globes, SAGs and now at the Santa Barbara Film Festival, above, wearing Alberta Ferretti.
Somehow she always manages to look age appropriate and fashion forward at the same time, and I’m particularly loving her pop of red with a cute (and affordable) clutch from H&M and shoes from Aldo. This is a great way to make a solid white or black dress stand out from the crowd. If you do decide to wear shoes and a bag of the same color, try to mix it up with different textures or materials — stay away from pieces that are too matchy-matchy.

Stripes can be terrifying to women, mainly because we were always told to avoid horizontal stripes in order to look as svelte as possible. So what’s a lady to do when these symmetrical lines are back in a big way? Style.com is “In the Mood For: Stripes” this week, and I have to agree that the look is showing up everywhere.
Whether you’re feeling preppy or just a bit avant garde, stripes can convey totally different styles. If you’re not ready to start wearing the lines on your clothes, why not try them on your favorite handbag? Here are my picks for super stripes for 2011:
CHANEL Rare Chanel Teeny Tiny Striped Mini Flap Bag
ASPREY Signature Steamer Collection Purple Beige Striped Canvas Tote Bag
Black Python and Suede Tote
Presenting: Honeysuckle! This is Pantone’s annual color of the year choice, just in time for your holiday sale shopping. This warm rose color is admittedly feminine, but in my opinion the pretty pink is strong enough to avoid the much-dreaded pastel label. Plus, I love a man in a pink shirt or tie!
Want to get in on the trend early? We totally endorse the gorgeous patent Chanel bag below in nearly the exact shade.
While it may at times seem inaccessible, Dita Von Teese’s pinup/burlesque/retro style is often times made up of a few very easy-to-wear pieces that would look good in anyone’s wardrobe. Take, for example, her look at the Jean Paul Gaultier Ready to Wear Spring/Summer 2011 show on October 2. Gorgeous crocodile clutch? Check. Sparkly Louboutins? Check. Long gloves? Yes, please.
Any one of these pieces can take you straight through the season. We have a couple of stunning Chanel crocodile clutches that I would gladly add to my own collection:
CHANEL Vintage Crocodile Westminster Envelope Flap Bag & Clutch
CHANEL Crocodile Shoulder Bag & Clutch
And I’m loving these red suede elbow-length gloves as well. They are perfect for the 3-quarter-length sleeves on many of the season’s best coats.

Sometimes it’s easy to forget that bags other than Chanel come in quilted materials. But they definitely do, and one of our current faves is the updated Miu Miu Coffer bag carried by Rachel Bilson, above. The elongated diamond pattern and oversized turn lock is just unusual enough to turn heads, but the oversized silhouette and rich shade of brown make it perfect for every day use. Here are a couple of our picks for non-Chanel quilted bags, or click to shop our whole collection.
