Today's listing showcases a 1940's Cartier with a great look. A rare watch in the Cartier signed dial version and made by Movado, we found record of only one other which was in 14K yellow gold. It features a striking original bulls-eye dial with Breguet numerals and beautiful rose gold bezel. Because of the watch's rarity we left the dial original, though we can restore it if you like. The cool case with its cadenas lugs is in very pleasing condition retaining strong lines. Measuring 28.5mm in diameter by 39mm long, it's suitable for someone with small wrists. The watch has an inner anti-magnetic cover. A rare Cartier at a price that won't break the budget. Modern Cartier watches don't match the charm of this vintage original.

A BRIEF HISTORY OF CARTIER

Named "Jeweler to the Kings and the King of Jewelers" by Edward VII, Cartier has attracted Russian, British, and Indian aristocrats as well as some of the most esteemed celebrities since Louis-Françoise Cartier founded his namesake brand in 1847.

During the 1930s, Cartier’s directrice-artistique Jeanne Toussaint sent Cartier designers to the zoo where their innovations led to Cartier’s renowned panther and tiger designs. When Duchess of Windsor commissioned Cartier to create two 3-D panther brooches (one composed with cabochon emeralds, the second with diamonds and sapphires) in 1948, it was soon after that the panther became the symbol of Cartier.

Beyond the symbolic panther, two of Cartier’s most desired collections remain the Cartier Tank and the Cartier LOVE Series.
